Film

I began my previous career in Toronto’s film production industry as a Production Assistant, Script Coordinator and Assistant Production Coordinator before joining the art department where I held roles as a senior Graphic Designer and Art Director.

Throughout my film career, I created on-camera set and prop graphics for more than 25 feature films and series productions.

The role of a Graphic Designer in film production is demanding, requiring high-volume development of a wide range of theatrical aesthetics in response to the tone of individual productions in fast-paced, cost-sensitive and deadline-driven conditions. Disciplined self-direction and autonomous time management is required to perform intensive creative research, rapid design iteration, monitoring of scripted creative requirements, and ownership of external production vendor relationships.

Creative conceptual development through to approval and production of camera-ready art for a series episode or block of feature film shooting frequently transpires in less than a week. With a daily shooting schedule dictated by the logistical coordination of multiple technical and creative departments, there is no option for a delayed deadline in delivering camera-ready art.

As an Art Director in film, I managed multidisciplinary creative departments and vendors to ensure the seamless execution of the Production Designer’s vision; building, delivering and monitoring creative production schedules, script breakdowns, departmental labour and vendor budgets. I directed photoshoots and coordinated approvals and logistics with executives, story departments and creative department heads.

These galleries showcase a sampling of the work I designed throughout my film career. All work shown is copyright of the respective studio production companies.
